Problem/ opportunity identification

Demonstrates an inquisitive approach beyond the classroom to school community to the world; actively seeks opportunities and inspires others to make a difference; analyzes situations from diverse and multiple perspectives; focuses on a problem, need or issue beyond the ASIJ community; pursues a comprehensive understanding of a problem; clearly identifies the problem and engages others in pursuit of a solution.

Collaborate, research and design

Dissects the problem to understand what is needed; asks open ended questions; seeks out reliable information from various and diverse resources (human, material, intellectual); synthesizes and organizes information; initiates diverse partnerships; practices behaviors that enhance collaborative productivity (active listening…); identifies and develops possible strategies; analyzes potential outcomes.

Implement and iterate

Tests and weighs effectiveness of solutions; adjusts solutions and repeats implementation process to improve outcomes; models active engagement and persistence; leads and engages others in the implementation process; applies criteria for success with care and integrity in the reflection process; reflects on the process of problem solving and effectiveness of solution; transfers and adapts past learning to new problems and opportunities.
